The marine area of Capo Carbonara is found in the territory of Villasimius, it is divided into two bays by the homonymous promontory for a total extension of 86 square kilometres, from Capo Boi to the island of Serpentara, including the Isola dei Cavoli and the famous shoals of Berni, Mezzo, Libeccio, Pescatelli and Santa Caterina, where lies the famous Madonna del shipwrecked by Pinuccio Sciola, the destination of a solemn procession in July. Richness of plant and animal species, clarity of the water, unmistakable colors of the sea, sand and granite make a stretch of sea unique where delightful coves and splendid beaches alternate with promontories eroded by history and time. Through a path totally immersed in the Mediterranean scrub you will have the opportunity to reach from Capo Carbonara to Porto Giunco. Simius beach, between the two promontories is a dream: dunes protected by age-old juniper trees and, behind it, the Notteri pond, the residence chosen by the elegant pink flamingo. From above it will appear to you as a strip of sand enclosed between 'two seas'.
The Residence Le Bouganville *** is only 900 meters from the center of the village of Villasimius. The very central Via del Mare and Via Umberto, closed to traffic until late at night, host various shops, workshops, night clubs and pizzerias. The Sea Museum located at Casa Todde, since 2017 houses more than 700 unique memorabilia related to the sea and navigation, coming from a private collection formed over the years thanks to the curiosity and passion for the sea that distinguishes the Simese community. The Archaeological Museum houses small and large archaeological treasures from the ancient civilizations that populated this coast since Neolithic times. There are examples of finds from the Punic, Roman and medieval periods.
